003. What being normal is costing you

THE MESSAGE

TOO DIFFERENT
TO IGNORE

This simple realization hit me like a lightning bolt.

Years ago, I was out on my morning run. My route skirted a busy intersection, so I tried to tune out the chaos—the cars, the noise, the constant hum of life—but I still found myself sneaking glances just to pass the time.

Hundreds of runs.

Thousands of cars.

And I never noticed a single one.

Until I saw a Blu Glauco (teal) Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster.

It stopped me cold. I paused mid-stride, staring until it disappeared.

Coming from a small town, I could count the number of supercars I’d seen in the wild on one hand. That car stood out like a ringtone in church.

In that moment God put something on my heart that I haven’t forgotten…

"The way you felt when you saw that car is how people should feel when they’re around you."

We are called to stand out, not blend in. Not for our glory, but His.

The Bible puts it plainly…

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” —Romans 12:2

“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others” — Matthew 5:14–16.

What does sticking out look like in real life?

  • While others gossip, you uplift.

  • While others chase comfort, you choose purpose.

  • While others compromise, you remain disciplined.

  • While others worry, you have peace.

It’s not about being flashy or showy.

It’s about being radically different because your life points to something bigger than yourself.

Just like that Lamborghini didn’t blend into the sea of gray sedans, your life can be an example that points people toward Christ.

Be bold.

Be counter-cultural.

Be different.
