001. Go harder...?

THE MESSAGE

HARD WORK
IS FOR SUCKERS

If you’re reading this there’s a chance you might be allergic to hard work.

Or maybe you’re the opposite— the roll-up-your-sleeves, lace-your-boots, git-r-done at all costs type of guy.

Either way there’s something valuable in what I’m about to share.

For much of my life I believed hard work was the answer to all of life’s problems.

For context my favorite coffee mug has “Nobody cares, work harder” printed on the side.

But I’ve learned this mindset can actually be a hindrance to my walk with Christ.

The gospel isn’t about grinding harder or relying on our own strength.

As Proverbs 3:5-6 explicitly states, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Hard work has its place, but its place is not as an idol in our lives.

So if you pride yourself on “grit” and “hustle” here’s the challenge… Keep working hard, but change your mindset to align more closely with Colossians 3:23.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

And for the lazy guys still scrolling you also must proceed with caution.

“Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”
— Proverbs 10:4
